Road accident compensation claim – Car passenger injury
Tracey represented this client when he was injured in a road accident during the course of his work. Although the defendant had admitted liability early on in the proceedings, his insurers refused to negotiate an acceptable sum in road accident compensation.
Tracey was forced to issue court proceedings but was able to negotiate over £2,000 in road accident compensation shortly before the trial date.
Her client was a front seat passenger in the car when the driver had stopped to allow oncoming traffic to pass through an obstruction in the road. He had suffered whiplash injuries to his neck and back when the defendant collided with the rear of the car.
Work accident compensation claim – Manual handling injury
Some two years before this work accident occurred, the layout of our client’s workplace had changed. Rollers that had previously been in place to allow the smooth transfer of parts from one bench to another had been replaced by a fixed surface. Over time, the shiny steel surface of this area had become uneven and the parts did not glide over to the next bench.
On the day of this work accident, a colleague had pushed a part, weighing approx 25kilos, towards our client but it fell short. They both reached for the part at the same time in order to complete the transfer, but our clients hand became trapped under the part due to the excessive force used by his colleague.
Tracey’s client suffered injury to tendons in one of his fingers, which became swollen and was very painful. He was unable to bend his finger and has been advised that it may take many months for the injury to heel.

Work accident compensation – Tripping accident
This client had been walking around the work area when he suddenly tripped over a hose that had been left in the walkway, adjacent to the area in which it was used.
He fell heavily and landed on his knee, causing immediate pain and discomfort. Investigations found that he had suffered a tear to his cartilage and he underwent surgery to remove the torn part. Such injuries typically result in several weeks when the patient is unable to work, but the full recovery can take many months to complete, and Tracey’s client was also left with surgical scarring at the site of the operation.
The employer’s insurers refused to negotiate an acceptable sum in work accident compensation until Tracey issued court proceedings. She was then able to negotiate an acceptable sum of several thousand pounds in compensation for her client’s injury.
