Mesothelioma compensation – Grandfather’s work clothes
Michelle Campbell was devastated when she was diagnosed with mesothelioma, the fatal asbestos-related lung disease. It eventually became clear that she had been exposed through the work clothes that her grandfather (a Portsmouth dockyard worker for over 40 years) still wore on his daily visits to her family home. This was the first case to reveal that the negligence of employers has now extended to causing the death of a third generation of innocent people.
Mrs Campbell, who was only 45 at the time she was diagnosed, underwent operations, radiotherapy and chemotherapy but eventually stopped treatment when it did not make sufficient difference. The cancer then spread to other parts of her body.

Asbestos compensation claim - Mesothelioma
When this client was diagnosed with mesothelioma, it was initially thought that his symptoms were connected to previous heart problems. However, he was referred to a consultant and, following tests, was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Tony’s client had worked in the dockyards for most of his working life but his exposure to asbestos occurred during the first twenty years.
His symptoms had begun with breathlessness, followed by pains in his side. A chest x-ray showed that there was fluid on his lung and he underwent a chest drain, a very uncomfortable process.
When Tony was asked to help this victim to make a claim for mesothelioma compensation, he quickly compiled the details and submitted the claim to his client’s negligent employer.
