Back injury caused by falling object in accident at work

When he was injured in an accident at work through no fault of his own, this client asked us to represent him in bringing a claim for accident compensation.

Our specialist work accident compensation lawyers used their extensive legal knowledge to secure a five-figure sum for our client, but not before we had advised him to reject an initial offer which did not reflect the extent of his injuries.

Although the defendant, the supplier of the crane, admitted liability, their insurers refused to negotiate an acceptable sum and we were forced to issue court proceedings. However, before trial, we were able to negotiate an acceptable sum for our client.

Falling object hits hydraulic platform

Our client was working with a colleague on a hydraulic platform. Overhead, a crane was lifting a very heavy object when a link in the lifting chain of the crane snapped. The object fell, landing heavily on the platform and causing our client to be thrown violently around.

The suddenness of the impact meant that our client had no time to brace himself and he suffered serious jolting and jarring to his back. Investigations confirmed that he had suffered a severe strain to the lumbar spine. The injury meant that an underlying condition to his spine would be accelerated by around 5 years.
