Clear Answers’ lawyers, Thompsons Solicitors, have successfully won compensation for client who was exposed to asbestos while working for British Railways.
Their personal injury claims lawyers, which has a network of offices nationwide, won more than £100,000 for the man who suffers from fatal mesothelioma.
He was exposed to asbestos dust while working for British Railways between 1947 and 1962 at the Wolverton Carriage and Wagon Works, Buckinghamshire.
He started work as a labourer and later served an apprenticeship as a trimmer, upholstering new railway carriages.
He developed symptoms of mesothelioma in November 2006. There is no cure for the cancer of the lining of the lung and many sufferers die within months of diagnosis.
British Railways admitted they were negligent in exposing him to asbestos and agreed to pay the compensation.
Head of asbestos policy at Thompsons Solicitors, Ian McFall said: “Like many other men he was exposed to asbestos while carrying out a hard day’s work.
”He wanted the reassurance of knowing that the case was finalised during his lifetime and I’m pleased that we achieved that for him.
“Mesothelioma is a devastating disease and it is only right that people who develop it are fully and fairly compensated”.
