Compensation for leg and head injuries in a cycling accident
A teenager was seriously injured when he was knocked off his bike as he cycled home from work. Unable to bear weight on his leg for over a year, our client was unable to work following this cycling accident. He was dependent on his mother for his care for many months.
Our specialist personal injury lawyers won this accident claim and were able to secure over £30,000 in compensation for the injuries to his leg and head.
Road traffic accident
In navigating a major road intersection, our client had been cycling across a busy road on a zebra crossing, when he was suddenly hit side-on by a car. Although he was conscious at the scene, when he arrived at hospital where he was taken by ambulance, he had lapsed into unconsciousness.
Injuries received in the cycling accident
When he arrived at the hospital, medical staff were unable to rouse him, and given his head injury, were so concerned that they immediately ordered CT and MRI scans. Although his head injuries proved not to be too serious in the long-term, his condition following this road traffic accident caused concern for some time. Further MRI scans were scheduled to confirm there was no long-term injury.
The damage to his leg was more severe with injuries that included compound fractures to fibia and tibia. He underwent emergency surgery for bone and skin grafts, as there was a real danger of his losing his leg. Fortunately, this was not the case but he had to endure further surgery and was still receiving ongoing treatment many months after the road accident.
He still suffers pain in his leg under some circumstances, as well as muscle spasms to his neck and shoulder.
Road traffic accident compensation
Although the defendant admitted liability, our specialist personal injury lawyers advised the client to reject their first offer and fought for a fair sum in cycle compensation to compensate for his injuries and on-going losses.
