Designated cycle path was dangerous

Our client was injured during an organised city cycle ride when she fell off her bike because the route had been poorly maintained by the council. Our client contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers because the impact from the fall caused her to fracture her coccyx bone and she took eight weeks to recover.

The designated cycle route included a bridge made of wooden planks. As she cycled over the bridge, her bike swerved on the slippery surface and the front wheel went into a gap between the wooden planks, causing her to fall off her bike.

Fractured coccyx bone took eight weeks to heal

Our client had to struggle home in pain from the event and visited her GP who diagnosed the fractured coccyx bone. She was unable to work for one week because of her limited mobility after the fall and her fracture took eight weeks to heal. During this time our client was unable to use her bike which was her primary mode of transport.

Our personal injury lawyers were able to secure several thousands of pounds in compensation from the local council for her injuries and financial loss. The council admitted liability for failing to maintain the bridge and for including it in the designated cycle route. Following our client’s accident, the council has instructed cyclists to dismount from their bikes when crossing the bridge.
