Serious Fork Lift Truck Injury at Work Results in Substantial Compensation

Our Client, a Bristol man, suffered significant injuries at work when he was struck by a reversing forklift truck in a totally avoidable factory accident at work.

Despite wearing personal protective equipment, he suffered several fractures in his foot and his steel toe-capped boots were pulled off his foot and ankle by the force of the forklift truck.

Due to the sheer weight of the forklift truck, he also lost much of the skin and flesh on his foot in this workplace accident, and will have to wear specially designed boots for the rest of his life in order to help and protect it from further injury.

His work injuries have left him in constant pain, for which he takes medication, and a lack of mobility that means he has to permanently use a stick when walking. Since his work related injuries, he has been rendered unable to climb stairs easily.

Defendant admits liability but later sacked our client

Although admitting liability for his industrial injury, when our client was unable to return to the position he had held prior to the accident at work, his employer subsequently sacked our client, stating that they had no alternative work for him.

As many of his friendships had been formed during his 18 years working at this company, many of his friends were lost to him when he lost his job.

Unable to find other employment because of his injuries at work, his loss of his social networking, and suffering severely limited mobility which caused him great difficulty in pursuing his previous hobby of fishing, our client naturally suffered from bouts of depression following his workplace accident.

This was made worse by his limited mobility at home that forced him to live entirely on the ground floor of his two-storey home. Only in his forties, this tragic, and avoidable accident at work has inflicted a complete change of lifestyle on our client.

Pursuing a claim for injury at work compensation

Our client asked for advice from our specialist personal injury lawyers in bringing an accident claim for workplace injury compensation. Although liability for his injuries at work was admitted, his employer failed to put forward an acceptable offer of injury at work compensation. Our specialist personal injury solicitors were forced to issue court proceedings to pursue our client’s rightful injury at work compensation.

Accident at work compensation awarded for fork lift truck injuries

However, before the trial date, our expert accident advice solicitors were able to negotiate an offer of almost £300,000 in compensation, not only for his future loss of earnings but also for the substantial costs for footwear in the future.
