Road Traffic Accident Involving Lorry Results in Leg and Other Injuries
After suffering injuries in a road traffic accident, our client asked for our accident claim advice in order to secure road accident compensation. No longer able to drive long distances, and uncomfortable staying away from home, she felt unable to continue working in the rewarding job she loved. After the car accident, her employer was unable to offer suitable alternative employment nearer her home, and she decided to take early retirement.
Circumstances Of The Road Traffic Accident
Travelling some distance to her place of work every day, our client was involved in the road traffic accident when a lorry failed to stop at a motorway slip road exit, causing our client’s vehicle to collide with it. Initially she was unable to get out of the car, as the driver’s door was jammed. Although quickly released, she suffered considerable trauma whilst she felt trapped in her damaged vehicle.
Road Traffic Accident Injuries
On her escape, our client immediately felt a tingling sensation in her legs, which were also sore and weak. In a state of shock and distress, it was the next day before she visited her GP. Her injuries had left her with tenderness in her legs and ankles because of soft tissue injuries.
Some days later, our client began to suffer nightmares and flashbacks of the road traffic accident, eventually being diagnosed as suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This continued for some months but she is now beginning to make good progress on the way to recovery.
Recovering From Road Traffic Accident Injuries
Our client was most anxious to return to normal, not least to ensure she was able to feel confident to drive and return to her work. When this proved to be impossible, her employers were extremely sympathetic, and made it possible for her to take early retirement.
She has also undertaken several courses of treatment to reduce the effects of the psychological injuries she suffered in the road traffic accident, in order to improve the breadth of her employment potential. She continues to make good progress in these areas, though some nervousness remains.
Court Proceedings Issued In Road Traffic Accident Compensation Claim
Although the driver of the lorry had admitted liability for the road traffic accident, the insurers of his employer, the defendants in this case, refused to negotiate an acceptable settlement. Due to time constraints, our lawyers, specialists in all types of road traffic accident, were forced to issue court proceedings. However, before trial they were able to negotiate a settlement of over £20,000 in compensation for our client’s injuries and psychological stress.
