Bus passenger receives accident compensation

Although the driver of the vehicle responsible for this road traffic accident admitted liability, his insurer refused to negotiate an acceptable sum in compensation. Our specialist road traffic accident lawyers were forced to issue court proceedings. However, before the date of the trial, the other side made an offer of over £10,000 in personal injury compensation for our client’s suffering and loss of earnings.

Road accident injuries

Our client was a bus passenger who suffered a personal injury when the bus driver had to perform an emergency stop. A driver of another vehicle had pulled sharply into the path of the bus causing the bus driver to brake hard in order to avoid a collision.

A middle-aged lady, but fit and active, our client, who was standing at the time due to crowding, was thrown forwards onto the floor of the bus. Another passenger, also thrown over by the violence of the bus stopping, landed on top of her.

Our client landed on her shoulder and back, and she immediately felt pain in her lower back, shoulder and chest area.

At hospital, our client was advised that nothing had been broken as a result of this bus accident and that her pain was due to tenderness in the affected areas.

After-effects of the bus accident

Our client initially returned to work but later had to take time off when her injuries did not improve and the pain in her back grew worse.

She also found that the psychological effects of the bus accident were causing her to be anxious about going out or travelling on a bus.

For some time after the road traffic accident, our client relied very heavily on family for all her household chores.
