Social worker wins compensation in assault case

During the course of her work as a residential social worker, the claimant was assaulted by a young resident. She had been involved in several incidents during her work. The claimant, it was alleged, had not had proper training and the resident was in the wrong environment given the history of violence.

The trial was scheduled for 16 April but the case was settled at the door of the court. Strengthened by pre-action disclosure documents which revealed a history of violence to members of staff, the case settled for £65,000.
