Having served in the RAF during the war our claimant, a Polish National, was told that he could only remain in the UK if he found employment. As a result he took a job with Turner Brothers in Manchester where he worked from 1949 until 1979. His work was to result in his diagnosis of the devastating industrial illness, mesothelioma.
It was during his employment with T&N that our client was exposed to asbestos. In 1920, four established UK asbestos firms merged to create T&N (Turner and Newall Ltd) which became T&N plc. By the post War, they dominated the asbestos industry and played a leading role for several decades.
Once diagnosed, mesothelioma quickly robs the victim of quality of life, and is always fatal, usually within a very short time frame. When instructed by someone who has been diagnosed with mesothelioma we always do our best to obtain compensation as quickly as possible, in order that the claimant may benefit from the settlement, as well as having peace of mind that their loved ones will be financially secure. In this case, we were able to settle the case for £67,690 within eight weeks.
This claim was one of the first to be dealt with by the T&N Asbestos Trust which was approved by the High Court as a means of paying compensation to T&N asbestos victims after the company went into Administration in 2001.
