Whiplash compensation claim for driver injured in hit and run accident

Whilst waiting in queuing stationary traffic to make a right turn, our client’s vehicle was hit in the rear by another vehicle. Although the other driver initially made as if to stop, he actually drove off without exchanging information.

Fortunately, for our client, the police were able to trace the other driver and charged him with failing to stop at the scene of an accident. His insurance company quickly admitted liability and our specialist road accident compensation lawyers were able to negotiate over £2,000 in whiplash compensation.

Rear-end shunt

The junction where our client was waiting was a busy one, and the right turn filter was full, causing the queue to back onto the carriageway. The driver of the other vehicle came around a corner at speed and was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. Even though our client had his foot on the brake, his car suffered a heavy impact and was jolted forward.

Injuries from the road traffic accident

As our client’s vehicle was hit off centre, the impact threw him around, causing him to hit his head on a window. The attending paramedic diagnosed his stiff neck, headache and slight blurriness in one eye as temporary shock, and he suffered dizziness for a few hours.

Following the road accident, our client experienced whiplash symptoms, including a stiff neck and pain from the base of his neck, through to the back of his skull. These symptoms persisted for a few weeks before dissipating.
