Road traffic accident compensation for whiplash victim

When our client’s vehicle was hit from behind whilst she was stationary, she suffered whiplash injuries that were to prove extensive and take a considerable time to heal. At the time of her road traffic accident compensation award, she was still unable to return to work and had undergone surgery to correct torn ligaments in her shoulder.

Our specialist accident claim lawyers were forced to issue court proceedings and the defendant subsequently admitted liability for her whiplash injuries. We were able to negotiate over £20,000 in personal injury compensation for our client’s ongoing pain and discomfort.

Road Traffic Accident

At the time of the road accident, waiting to turn right, the defendant’s vehicle had hit our client's vehicle without notice or warning, throwing our client forward. She suffered injury to her neck and shoulder and on attending hospital was diagnosed with whiplash injuries, which included tenderness of the muscles of the shoulder and neck.

Whiplash injuries after road accident

In the days following the road traffic accident other whiplash injuries developed, including tingling and numbness in her arm, difficulty moving her head, disturbed sleep and difficulty at work with typing and carrying heavy files. Her work also requires her to drive frequently to visit clients and she found it painful and difficult to look left and right.

The symptoms seemed to improve whenever she was away from her work, either on leave or when attending courses. Despite many sessions of physiotherapy since she sustained her whiplash injuries, she found that her job and particularly driving, aggravated her symptoms and she was unable to return for some time.

Surgery to repair whiplash injuries

Later, an MRI scan suggested surgery was necessary and this was done when the torn ligaments were repaired. However, she still suffers ongoing pain in her neck and shoulder which increases during any heavy activities at work or home. She has now been able to return to work following several absences during her surgery and recuperation.
