A partner, David is based at our London office and is the grandson of our founder, Harry Thompson. Successful accident compensation claims
Here are just a couple of recent cases where David has received accident compensation for the victims of serious injury
Road accident compensation claim – Severe brain injury
“Guardian Angel” – that’s the name David has been given by this client and his family. His client was a minor when he was hit by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road, whilst he was crossing the road.
David’s client suffered a severe brain injury when he was thrown into the air and landed on the car. In a coma for several days, and in hospital for several more weeks, he then began the long process of rehabilitation.
David fought and secured interim payments so that his client’s treatment could continue during the complicated accident claim process. David and the Serious Injury Team thoroughly assessed all the costs incurred as well as the future cost for care and loss of earnings before issuing court proceedings to secure the maximum compensation that he could achieve for his client.
Liability was admitted but David was forced to issue court proceedings when no satisfactory offer was made by the other side. He was subsequently able to negotiate an acceptable sum in road accident compensation, which will ensure his client’s care and financial security for the remainder of his life.
Work accident compensation claim – Faulty equipment injury
David represented this client when his arm was cut off by a faulty tractor mower. He had been clearing grass cuttings that had blocked the mower when the machine malfunctioned. Although his accident occurred at work, it was the manufacturer of the mower who was liable for this tragic and avoidable accident. They were subsequently prosecuted successfully by the Health and Safety Executive.
Many operations followed this work accident, and David’s client was fitted with a prosthetic arm. Although he tries to be positive and get on with life, there are so many simple things now with which he needs help.
