Accident compensation claim - Corporate manslaughter
Mick successfully represented the Dennis family in a case of judicial review over the Crown Prosecution Service’s failure to bring manslaughter charges against an employer responsible for the death of their 17-year-old son. The employer was eventually successfully prosecuted for manslaughter and imprisoned.
Accident compensation claim - Severe spinal injuries
Mick represented Greg Arde, a South African Citizen who suffered severe spinal injuries when he was crushed by a fork truck. As well as securing for Greg the right to remain in the UK where he had set up his care team, Mr Arde was awarded £2.4 million
Industrial Disease - Latex allergy
Working as a nurse in the NHS, our client became sensitised to latex, which became a life threatening condition. Following several anaphylactic reactions, she has now been forced to accept that she can never work in a hospital / medical environment again, and that her employment opportunities will be very limited in the open labour market.
Mick was forced to issue court proceedings in order to bring the defendant's insurer to the negotiating table. After extensive and prolonged negotiations, Mick was successful in securing over £300,000 in industrial disease compensation for this client, which included substantial loss of earnings and general damages for her condition.
Work accident compensation claim - hit by falling object
When this client was first examined after being hit on the head by a falling object at his place of work, it was thought that he had suffered only a mild concussion. Over time however, it became clear that his injuries were far more serious. He had actually suffered a brain injury which caused personality changes, fatigue and headaches.
Although the defendant admitted liability for this accident at work, Mick had to issue court proceedings to ensure negotiations continued. Although the case was settled prior to the trial date, Mick’s extensive negotiating skills were needed to secure substantially more personal injury compensation than the original sum offered.
Work accident compensation claim - Jump from height
Liability was admitted in this claim for accident compensation by this client. He was forced to jump from a height of some 10 feet, sustaining a significant injury to his foot. Our client went on to develop significant psychological issues as a result of the trauma of the accident at work.
