Noise induced deafness
Our client, a miner, was working underground whilst road cutter loaders and borers were in operation. Additionally, explosives were used on a daily basis to speed up the work. Our client was not provided with any hearing protection and was diagnosed as suffering hearing loss due to his exposure to this excessive noise.
The defendant’s insurers refused to negotiate a settlement, but after issuing court proceedings, William was able to secure a satisfactory settlement.
Work accident compensation claim
Initially continuing to work following an accident at work, our client was eventually forced to seek medical help for an injury to his shoulder. He was found to have a serious injury that required surgery and although this was successful, he was left with some loss of strength and mobility, which meant he could not return to his previous work.
William secured an interim payment for our client to alleviate some of the financial impact of his situation, and was eventually able to negotiate acceptable compensation, although it was necessary to issue court proceedings to bring the other side to the negotiating table. Our client’s compensation included loss of earnings since the accident, and also loss of future income and opportunities.
