Natalie Harvey - Accident compensation solicitor

Accident compensation solicitor - Leeds

For over 10 years, Natalie has been in practice as a personal injuries lawyer, qualifying in 2011 as a solicitor, and dealing with a wide variety of accident compensation claims. Many of her successful cases have included difficult legal issues, which have required her to issue court proceedings when the defendants have refused to admit liability.

Claims that Natalie has successfully fought and won accident compensation for her clients include all types of accidents at work, such as factory (manufacturing) accidents, accidents on construction sites and accidents which happen in educational establishments such as schools, colleges and universities. She has also dealt with many street tripping accidents, such as slips, trips and falls caused by uneven pavements and potholes.

More recently, Natalie has developed a particular interest and experience in cases arising out of assaults at work, which can be a particularly difficult area of law.

Natalie is well respected by her peers and manages a team of lawyers based at our Leeds office. Her depth of knowledge and experience in such a wide range of personal injury compensation claims, and her determination to pursue your case through to trial if necessary, will ensure that you and your family receive the just compensation to which you are entitled.

Successful accident compensation claims

Here are just a few examples of accident compensation claims that Natalie has won.

Work accident compensation claim – Slipping accident

Early one morning, Natalie’s client slipped as he was preparing to open up, suffering a serious injury to his shoulder. We argued that our client had slipped on rubbish which must have been present since the previous night and therefore the cleaning systems were inadequate.

The defendants had defended the claim throughout and made no offers. Natalie was forced to issue court proceedings, and the Judge agreed with us. He found there was no adequate cleaning system in place and so Regulation 12(3) Workplace Regs had been breached. Natalie’s client was awarded in excess of £100,000 in accident at work compensation.

Work accident compensation claim – No risk assessments

A caretaker at a school, Natalie’s client cut his wrist severely whilst trying to board up a window which had been broken by vandals. The school denied liability all along, arguing our client was an experienced caretaker and he should have risk assessed every job he did and that he had never asked for any training.

Natalie argued that the school had provided no training whatsoever to our client as to how to carry out risk assessments. It was also established that there were no systems in place at all for dealing with broken windows.

Natalie issued court proceedings and was successful at trial on the basis that the school had breached the MHOR (Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992) by failing to carry out any risk assessment, which had it been done would have identified how boarding up a window could have been done safely.

Accident compensation claim - Public liability – Street tripping accident

In this street tripping accident, Natalie’s client had broken his ankle after tripping on a defect in the pavement. Although the defect was only 17mm, well below the Council’s intervention level of 20mm, at it’s highest level the defect measured 30mm. This was deemed a crucial point and, when questioned at trial, the inspector admitted he would have marked the defect for repair had he seen it.

The Council defended this claim for public liability compensation, but the Judge found that they had failed in their duty as it was clear their last inspection was not satisfactory, given that they had not seen the defect.
