Builder receives compensation after fall

A man, who fell as a result of faulty scaffolding while working on a building site, contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers to pursue a compensation claim.

Having been employed as a sub-contractor, our client was brought in to complete some dry lining at the top of a stairwell. However, the scaffolding had been installed the day before by the primary contractor and some of the floor boards on the scaffold had not been properly attached to the main structure. As a result, our client slipped through the scaffold flooring and suffered severe lacerations to his left wrist caused by a metal bar he had been holding at the time.

Severed nerve and seven weeks leave

Our client had to be immediately taken to A&E where a plastic surgeon confirmed that he had suffered nerve damage which was causing numbness and intermittent shock pains in his thumb.

After medical treatment, it was assessed that our client would likely recover within 6 months without further complications or employment limitations. However, our client still struggled after the initial rehabilitation period due to the anxiety and localised numbness caused by the accident.

The primary contractors admitted full liability for the accident and our specialist injury lawyers were able to negotiate full compensation for our client.
