Chef injured in workplace accident

A restaurant chef successfully pursued a personal injury compensation claim after being injured in an accident at work.

While taking a bag of rubbish out of the kitchen, our client held open a chainmail door curtain for a colleague to pass through. Not seeing his hand, the colleague went on to slam the door shut, catching the chef's fingers between the door and the frame.

As a result of the accident, our client suffered a laceration and fracture to the third finger of his left hand. He was forced to take three weeks off work. He continues to suffer permanent sensitivity to cold in the injured finger, which has been left deformed.

After the accident, he contacted our specialist personal injury solicitors who pursued a compensation claim on his behalf. His employer admitted liability for the accident and full compensation was secured.
