Compensation awarded for injured Tesco employee

A Tesco employee was awarded a compensation package after suffering an accident whilst loading stock on faulty equipment.

The man was loading stock onto a lorry, by rolling a dolly onto the tail lift. The back wheel of the dolly slipped between the tail lift and the wagon as it had not been properly secured. The man attempted to free the dolly by hand when he felt a sharp pain to his left arm. Upon medical examination, the strain to his left arm required a 10-month recovery period.

During legal proceedings, the employers initially claimed they and the man were jointly liable for his injuries, arguing he should have reported the fault and waited for assistance.

However, Thompsons specialist legal team found that he was working at a temporary store and there was no-one who he could have reported the fault to. The employers accepted full liability.
