Construction worker's finger crushed by a weight

Our client suffered a crush injury while attaching a counter weight supported by a crane to the rear of a digger. When the crane, which was operated by a colleague, suddenly moved it caused the weight to lift up and trap his fingers against a toe hook attached to the digger.

Following the accident, he was referred to our specialist personal injury lawyers who were able to secure compensation for his injuries after his employer admitted liability for breaching its health and safety obligations.

Lost tip of middle finger

As our client, who at the time of the accident was wearing protective gloves, pulled his fingers out from in between the weight and the toe hook, he lost the tip of his middle finger. He also suffered bad bruising to his index finger.

Our client was admitted to hospital following the accident but staff were unable to reattach the tip of his middle finger. After his operation he was absent from work for three days.
