Defective depot equipment caused leg fracture

Our client who worked for a waste disposal and recycling company was injured in an accident at work which left him with a fractured leg. The man in his early twenties was injured when a roller shutter door malfunctioned at the depot where he worked. As he pressed the button to open the roller shutter door, it swung off its fixing and hit him in the leg below the knee, causing a fracture. He contacted Clear Answers specialist personal injury solicitors to instigate a claim for compensation.

Underwent an operation

Our client had driven a bin wagon to the recycling depot and entered the recycling area to unload the refuge vehicle. The faulty roller shutter door came off its fixing when he pushed the operating button causing it to swing with force into his leg. Our client was treated at A&E and underwent an operation to place metal pins into his leg to treat the fracture.

Poorly maintained work equipment

He was off work for three months while he recovered and on return to work his role was limited to light duties. His employer admitted liability for the defective equipment which caused our client's injury. Our accident at work solicitors secured a settlement for tens of thousands of pounds because our client's injury and three year recovery period triggered pre-existing depression symptoms.
