Fitness instructor fractures foot

A fitness instructor has been awarded compensation after an injury at work.

While putting away a table tennis table, the instructor, who had not been appropriately trained, became caught in the equipment when it started to fall, resulting in a steel bar falling onto his right foot causing a fracture, soft tissue damage, bruising and swelling.

Immediately after the injury, his colleague produced an ice pack and made sure he kept his foot elevated as he continued his shift on light duties. The swelling continued and he visited the hospital where he was diagnosed with a fracture. He took four days off work and returned on lighter duties for a further two weeks.

After contacting our specialist workplace injury solicitors, the instructor secured compensation for the injuries he had suffered as we found his employer should have provided special steel toe-capped footwear but had failed to do so.
