Food worker compensated after injury at work

An employee of a food processing factory has successfully pursued a compensation claim after she was injured in an accident at work.

Our client would receive frozen fish and was responsible for cutting them. The factory send frozen fish to make the job of preparing them easier and safer.

Permanent deformity

However, when our client was cutting into one fish, her knife slipped and dragged her thumb inside, slicing off the tip. She had to take a week off work as a result of the accident and it is expected that the deformity to her thumb will be permanent.

Following the accident, she contacted our specialist personal injury solicitors who investigated a compensation claim. Our specialists found that the fish our client had been attempting to cut had already started to defrost, making it dangerous to cut into. The factory admitted liability straight away and compensation was secured for our client.
