Hospital worker receives compensation following needle stick injury

A hospital worker has been awarded compensation after suffering a needlestick injury whilst at work.

Our client was changing clinical waste bag at a hospital when a used needle pricked her index finger. Procedure dictated that used needles should be disposed of safely in a sharps bin, not alongside other clinical waste due to the risk of the transfer of harmful diseases. Following the incident, our client underwent blood tests to establish whether they had contracted anything.

Our accident at work specialists successfully settled the claim on our client's behalf.
