Employee left unable to work following a knee injury in an accident at work

A construction worker, our client suffered a very serious knee injury whilst working on a client site on behalf of his employer. His injury was so severe that it has left him unable to continue working in any type of manual employment, including his previous work. His knee injury means that he has been registered disabled and he has been advised that he is unlikely to work again.

Employer liable for actions resulting in a work accident

Although his employer admitted liability for our client's accident at work, their insurers refused to negotiate an acceptable settlement until our specialist accident at work lawyers issued court proceedings. They were then able to secure a settlement of over half a million pounds in compensation for our client's injury, loss of income and ongoing life-changing circumstances.

Interim payments secured

Whilst our specialist personal injury lawyers pursued our client's claim for work accident compensation, they were able to secure several substantial interim payments that helped alleviate our client's difficult financial position following the termination of his contract.

Knee injury following the work accident

The knee injury suffered by our client during his accident at work, resulted in the need for him to undergo several surgical procedures, finally requiring him to receive a replacement knee. Since the life expectancy of this type of prosthesis is limited, he has also been advised that in somewhere between 9 and 14 years, he will need further surgery for another replacement.

Despite his extensive treatment, our client has been left with permanent mobility problems, including being unable to walk for more than a short distance, even taking the dog for a walk. Many of his hobbies involved standing for long periods and he is now unable to do any of these activities. Any short-term increased activity ultimately results in his suffering increased pain and discomfort for some days after.

His inability to work or enjoy previous hobbies has left this once active, hardworking man with a tendency for depression and mood swings.
