Labourer awarded compensation after injury to finger at work

A worker has received compensation after sustaining an injury at work.

A labourer and his colleague were building a new incinerator. The claimant's colleague pushed a pipe into the incinerator without warning, which the claimant did not see because they were working in the dark and were not provided with head torches.

The pipe caught the claimant's middle finger, which caused heavy bleeding. Injections were given to relieve the pain and the wound was dressed and bandaged. The injury caused the worker to miss a day of work and be put on light duties upon his return for six weeks.

After contacting our accident at work team, the labourer was awarded a compensation sum for the injury he sustained.
