Man secures compensation after fall

A member of the public, who was injured after a fall on a set of steps, contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers to investigate a compensation claim.

Our client had visited a local council building and was leaving the premises by walking down a set of steps outside the building. As he was walking down the stairs, our client lost his footing on a loose paving slab and fell down the steps.

Painful ligament tear

On account of the accident, our client suffered a tear to the medial meniscus to his knee which accelerated a pre-existing condition and left him with permanent symptoms. He also suffered a less serious ankle strain which took two weeks to recover.

Following the accident, our client was absent from work for several weeks and his injuries mean that he is now unable to play football as he had previously done regularly.

The local council initially denied liability for our client's injuries when he approached them directly. However, after he contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers, the council admitted breaching its health and safety obligations to our client and he received full compensation.
