Fall into dangerous manhole left hospital worker with broken ribs

Our client was injured in an accident at work when a manhole he stepped on while walking between two hospital buildings collapsed under him and he fell into the hole.

After the accident, our client was referred to our specialist personal injury team who were able to investigate a claim for compensation. His employer admitted liability for failing to maintain and inspect the grounds of the hospital which had meant the manhole had been left unchecked.

Unchecked manhole collapsed

The sudden collapse of the manhole as he was walking at pace meant that our client's legs fell into the manhole but his upper body got caught and slammed onto the edge of pavement. The impact of the fall fractured two of our client's ribs and caused significant damage to his knees.

He was hospitalised and received medical treatment for two fractured ribs which took nearly two months to heal. Our specialist lawyers were successful in securing him several thousand pounds in compensation.
