Needlestick injury victim compensated

A nurse who suffered a needlestick injury has been compensated following an appeal to our specialist personal injury solicitors.

Whilst assisting with a patient our client was pricked by a needle that had not been properly placed into a sharp pad, which prevents sharp medical objects from accidentally harming staff and patients. The needle penetrated the skin between her thumb and forefinger on her right hand.

Following the injury she was told that the patient had the Hepatitis C virus and that she would require a blood test to ensure she had not been infected. The news caused stress and anxiety before the results came back negative.

She contacted our specialist personal injury solicitors who investigated a claim for compensation on her behalf, after which she was awarded damages for the physical injury sustained and the undue psychological burden that she experienced.
