Nursery worker secures compensation after fall

Our client, who worked in a nursery, suffered an injury to her lower back and sprains to her ankle and knee as she walked into the nursery's garden to hang out washing. As she took a step down to the garden, she slipped on a toy that was left outside the door which caused her to lose her balance and fall.

The door was a fire exit, which should have been clear at all times. It was the responsibility of her colleagues to ensure that the doorway was not obstructed, and toys were not left in the garden.

Sustained back and strain injuries

Our client was admitted to hospital where staff diagnosed her back and strain injuries. She needed two weeks off work to recover, during which time she lost earnings.

Following her accident, our client was referred to our specialist personal injury lawyers who were able to secure compensation for her injuries after her employer admitted liability for breaching its health and safety obligations.
