Passenger in road traffic accident receives accident compensation

When this client was a passenger involved in a serious road traffic accident that left her partner dead and herself with life changing serious injuries, she asked for our expert legal advice in making a claim for road accident compensation.

Our specialist road traffic accident lawyers entered into robust negotiation on our client's behalf. They were able to secure a six figure sum in compensation, having advised her to reject an initial offer.

During the processing of this claim, we were able to secure an interim payment which was vital to our client's, easing the burden of the cost of medical treatments, and providing help in carrying out even basic household tasks.

Road traffic accident

Our client had been on her way home with her partner, having spent a pleasant evening. The driver of the other vehicle was approaching them on a single carriageway road. Immediately prior to the crash, our client had noticed that the vehicle was behaving erratically, crossing from one side of the road to the other, and back again.

When the collision occurred, the other vehicle was on the wrong side of the road, travelling far in excess of the speed limit, and hitting our client's vehicle head on.

The driver of the other vehicle was found to be above the legal limit for alcohol and was subsequently charged by police in connection with the accident.

Back injury from road traffic accident

Transported immediately to hospital, our client spent several months in hospital, initially in the intensive care unit, and later in the high dependency unit.

Amongst the injuries she suffered were a punctured lung, broken ribs and collar bone, but most serious, a broken neck and back. She underwent emergency surgery for the most serious of these injuries, followed by many other procedures as she fought to recover from this devastating accident.

Sadly, her partner died in the accident so in addition to her physical injuries, she had to deal with the emotional trauma of losing a loved one, and reconcile herself to a very different lifestyle to the one she and her partner had anticipated. Many of her injuries have proved to be permanent, requiring on-going treatment, and have severely compromised her independence.
