Retail worker compensated after accident at work

A retail worker has successfully pursued a claim of compensation after he was injured in an accident at work.

Our client, employed at a well-known retail outlet, was using the toilet facilities at work, when the toilet seat moved and came off the hinges, tipping him down the side of the toilet where he became wedged between the pan and the side of the cubicle.

Lower back strain

On account of the accident, he sustained a painful muscle strain in his lower back which took a year to recover. He continues to suffer from stiffness in his back which is expected to recover following a course of physiotherapy.

Seat was faulty

Following his accident, the worker contacted our specialist personal injury solicitors, who investigated a claim for compensation.

Our solicitors found that the toilet seat was faulty and that the necessary maintenance had not been carried out to ensure that it was safe to use. The store admitted liability for our client's injuries after medical evidence was presented to them, and compensation was secured.
