Car salesman compensated after unsafe assignment lead to accident at work

A car salesman, who was injured in a fall at work, contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers to pursue a compensation claim.

Our client was asked to climb railings in order to change a forecourt sign, a task that was forced on him after his employer warned him that the company would incur fines if it was not erected that afternoon. Our client was not provided with ladders or any other equipment necessary to complete this task safely. Consequently, once the sign had been attached, our client had to jump down from the railings and fractured his foot as he landed.

Lost earnings

Our client's earning capability was affected for several months following the accident as the job was commission-based, meaning he would lose potential customers because other sales personnel could get to them faster. The injury made walking very painful and everyday tasks were especially difficult for our client.

Following a lengthy delay, the employer admitted liability and offered to pay full compensation to our client before the case was due to be heard in court.
