University caretaker secures compensation after slip at work

A university caretaker, who was injured after a slip at work, contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers to investigate a compensation claim.

Our client was moving boxes from a lift and loading them into a nearby van through a set of double doors. As he was carrying one of the boxes through a door, he slipped on some plastic sheets which had been left on the floor.

Twisted knee

As our client was falling to the ground, he twisted his right knee causing painful ligament damage which took 18 months to fully recover.

On account of the accident, our client was unable to work for 15 weeks during which time he lost earnings. Moreover, when he returned to work, he could only do so on light duties for a period of eight weeks.

Our client’s employer quickly admitted breaching its health and safety obligations in failing to provide a safe working environment, and with the help of our specialist personal lawyers, he received full compensation.
