Woman compensated by local council after fall

A woman, who was injured after she tripped in a hole while walking on a public footpath, contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers to pursue a compensation claim.

Our client was on the way home with her partner after visiting family for the evening, when she tripped in a hole in a section of pavement which had not been properly maintained by the local council, causing her to fall forward onto her face. The section of pavement had been wrongly classified by the council, meaning that inspections took place less frequently than they ought to have done, according to the council's own regulations.

Permanent scarring, bruising and lasting headaches

On account of the accident, our client suffered lacerations and bruising to the face, as well as bruising to both knees which took several weeks to heal. In addition, the woman suffered grazing on both her hands, a headache which lasted three weeks and endured pain in her right knee for several months. One of the scars on her knee was deemed to be permanent and a second scar on her face was also likely to be permanent.

The council admitted liability for our client's injuries in failing to ensure that the pavement was properly maintained, and our specialist personal injury lawyers secured her full compensation for the accident.
