Zoo visitor compensated after slip

Our client was a retired woman who was injured while on a visit to a zoo.

She was walking on outdoor wooden decking outside a cafe on the zoo's premises when she slipped and fell.

The area had not been properly maintained and there was a build up of mud on the decking which made it very slippery underfoot.

Required Surgery

Our client suffered a badly fractured wrist which required surgery and was placed in a cast for six weeks. The fracture has now healed but she has been left with restricted movement in her wrist. Her pre-existing degenerative condition is also expected to become worse in the future as a result of the injury.

Following the accident, she contacted our specialist personal injury lawyers who pursued a compensation claim for the injury. The zoo had originally denied breaching its health and safety obligations to our client, but after court proceedings were issued, the zoo eventually admitted liability and compensation was secured.

Following our client's accident, the entire decking was replaced with a non-slip decking which is much safer to walk on.
