Cleaner compensated after accident at work

A woman who was employed as a supermarket supervisor and cleaner has successfully pursued a compensation claim with help from our specialist personal injury solicitors following an accident at work.

Our client was badly injured when she slipped and fell on an unattended spillage in the in-store bakery. She was moving a piece of machinery, but slipped and fell on grease on the floor which had not been cleaned up.

Physiotherapy, an MRI scan and 18 months of ongoing symptoms

As a result of the accident, our client suffered a painful back injury. The following morning she attended A&E and then consulted her GP. She underwent physiotherapy for nearly 12 months and was referred for an MRI scan. The doctor attributed 18 months of symptoms to the accident.

The supermarket initially admitted partial liability on the basis of contributory negligence. However, during negotiations our specialist solicitors pressed for a greater share of liability to be admitted by the supermarket which resulted in a more comprehensive compensation sum being secured.
